Ranir was founded over 35 years ago by a dentist who believed that the key to Oral Health was a preventive dental care program that included daily flossing. Ranir enjoyed early success, selling a variety of dental flosses to some of the top retailers in the country, and continued to grow throughout the 1980s.
Dental Control Products (DCP), a competitor of Ranir, was also founded by a dentist who shared the same belief that flossing was an integral part of preventive oral care, and key to maintaining a healthy smile. In 1990, the two companies with a shared philosophy decided to join forces, forming Ranir/DCP Corporation, to increase capabilities and expand product opportunities. The company’s product line grew to include toothbrushes, dental floss, trial/travel, accessories and most recently, dental whitening products. By continuously developing and expanding its extensive range of oral care products comparable to national brands, and custom oral care products, Ranir/DCP has become the largest Private Label manufacturer of Oral Care products in North America! |

In 1994, Ranir/DCP opened its corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan on a 28 acre site. The wetlands portion of the site was donated to the City of Kentwood, with the remaining acreage used by Ranir. This state-of-the-art ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2003 certified facility provides Ranir the capability to manufacture a broad range of products while maintaining award-winning quality and customer service.
In April of 2005, Ranir/DCP Corporation was acquired by Linden, LLC, a healthcare and life sciences private equity firm, and became Ranir, LLC.
Over the next several years, this partnership transformed Ranir into a key resource of consumer oral care products for retailers and branded marketers.
In March of 2008, Linden, LLC announced the sale of a controlling interest of Ranir to Kayak Holdings, LLC. Ranir is now poised to further expand in the consumer oral health care segment by aggressively pursuing innovative strategies to bring added value to its retail and contract manufacturing customers.
In January 2009, Ranir acquired Placontrol, Inc., a leading marketer of interdental oral care products under the Plackers trademark. Headquartered in San Diego, California, Placontrol is the founder of the convenience dental flosser. The union of Ranir and Placontrol will significantly enhance our innovation capabilities as well as bring increased supply chain efficiencies.
